Assortment Expert (Dutch)
Want to recognise and understand trees and shrubs even better? In the Assortment Expert course, you’ll learn to identify and apply more than 80 tree and shrub species. You’ll deepen your knowledge of their characteristics, origin, and propagation, so you can always make the right plant selection for every project.
This course is practice-oriented and helps you not only to name trees, but also to assess their quality and suitability. This enables you to give stronger advice and clearly justify why a particular tree fits a design or green project.

This course is intended for green professionals who want to deepen their knowledge of trees and shrubs. It is especially relevant for:
- Gardeners and arborists who advise on tree selection
- Landscape architects and designers who aim to apply trees functionally and appropriately
- Green space managers and policymakers responsible for long-term planting strategies
- Nursery staff and municipal planting teams who work with assortments and provenance
Do you already have basic knowledge of trees and shrubs and want to take your expertise to the next level? Then this course is perfect for you.
After completing this course, you’ll not only be able to recognise trees and shrubs, but also assess their quality and suitability more effectively. You will learn:
- How to identify 80 different tree and shrub species by their branches, buds, leaves, and other characteristics
- How trees are named, propagated, and selected
- How to determine the origin and key traits of tree species
- How to justify and apply plant assortment choices across different environments
This course equips you with the knowledge and skills to make targeted tree selections and provide well-informed advice in your field of work.
This course is held at our nursery in Sint-Oedenrode. You won’t just learn from books – you’ll experience the trees up close and in practice. Our nursery offers a unique learning environment where you can compare trees at various stages of growth.
Theoretical sessions take place in De Groene Ruimte, a modern training facility on site. From there, you’ll regularly head outdoors to immediately apply what you’ve learned.

The final programme will be tailored to the group and announced at a later stage. The course day combines theory and practice, allowing you to apply your knowledge immediately.
You’ll work with real plant material from our nursery and learn to identify trees and shrubs at various stages of growth. The course runs for a full day and includes a generous lunch.
