Moving and planting large trees requires true expertise. A single mistake in the process can result in damage, poor growth, or even the loss of the tree. Whether you work in urban planting, landscape projects, or tree management, the proper handling of large trees is critical.

In this ‘Handling Big Trees’ workshop, you’ll learn exactly how to safely and professionally move, plant, and provide aftercare for large trees. This is not a theoretical course, it’s a hands-on experience where you’ll work directly with trees of up to 70 cm in trunk circumference. You’ll not only learn the correct techniques but also understand why they are essential for a tree’s healthy and successful establishment after planting.

This is a comprehensive two-day workshop. To ensure a fully immersive experience, the price includes an overnight stay, lunch, and dinner. Please note: This masterclass is conducted entirely in English.

This practical, hands-on 2-day course (September 17-18) is specifically designed for professionals involved in the transport, planting, and maintenance of large trees. Participants typically include:

  • Green space managers and policymakers responsible for urban and landscape planting

Do you work with trees and want to ensure they are moved and planted the right way? Then this course is for you.

Moving a large tree is more than just a technical task – it’s a process that begins with proper preparation and ends with thorough aftercare. In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to safely load and unload large trees without damaging the roots or trunk
  • How to properly prepare the planting pit for healthy root development
  • The correct planting techniques to maximise survival rates
  • How to anchor trees securely against wind and instability
  • Which aftercare practices are essential, such as watering, pruning, and pest protection

You’ll work hands-on with trees ranging from 20 to 70 cm in trunk circumference, giving you practical experience with different sizes and real-life planting situations.

The workshop takes place at our nursery in Sint-Oedenrode – an inspiring setting where you can immediately put theory into practice. Our modern training facility, De Groene Ruimte, is fully equipped to provide an effective and engaging learning experience. During lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your plant assortment knowledge using the available reference materials.

This workshop is fully practice-oriented and takes place at our nursery. The exact programme is tailored to the group size, but you can expect a dynamic, hands-on day working directly with trees.

The day combines theory and practice, giving you in-depth insight into the transport, planting, and aftercare of large trees. You’ll be guided by experienced specialists who work with trees daily across a wide range of projects.
