Climate & Biodiversity (Dutch)
In this course, you’ll learn how to use trees and shrubs to respond to climate change, what climate-resilient planting entails, and which species are suitable for enhancing biodiversity in urban or landscape environments.
You’ll gain insight into the legal and regulatory requirements for planting trees and shrubs, as well as any additional demands clients may place on the origin of plant material. You’ll also learn which species from other climate zones perform well in the Netherlands, and which invasive species are no longer permitted.
In addition, the course covers the ecosystem services provided by trees and shrubs, and how these benefits can support your planning process and plant assortment choices.

This course is designed for experienced green professionals who want to deepen their knowledge in climate-resilient planting and biodiversity. It is particularly relevant for:
- Landscape architects and designers aiming to create sustainable, biodiverse projects
- Gardeners and arborists who want to make responsible planting choices

In this course, you’ll learn how to select tree and shrub species that can withstand climate change, and how to enhance biodiversity across different environments. You’ll gain insight into the laws and regulations related to nature and biodiversity, and how to apply them in your own projects.
You’ll also discover the ecosystem services that trees and shrubs provide, and how they contribute to a healthier and more resilient living environment. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to develop green projects that are not only climate-resilient but also have a positive impact on biodiversity.
The course takes place at our nursery in Sint-Oedenrode – an inspiring setting where theory and practice come together. Our modern training facility, De Groene Ruimte, is fully equipped to offer an effective and engaging learning experience. During lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to further expand your plant assortment knowledge using the available materials.

The programme consists of both theoretical and practical components, focusing on the selection of climate-resilient species and enhancing biodiversity. The final programme will be tailored to the group size and specific learning needs, and will be announced at a later stage. The course day includes a deluxe lunch and offers plenty of opportunities to exchange experiences with fellow professionals.
