Why choose Van den Berk College?

More and more knowledge about trees is disappearing. At the same time, the demand for quality greenery in cities and landscapes is growing. But without the right knowledge, trees are not planted or maintained properly. This leads to problems and unnecessary costs.

At Van den Berk Nurseries, we have extensive experience. For three generations, we have been growing top-quality trees. We don’t just know the theory—we work in the field every day. And we want to share that knowledge.

That’s why we founded Van den Berk College. Our courses are unique because they take place in our own nursery. You don’t just learn from books—you see and experience how trees grow and what they need. Our experts guide you step by step, so you can immediately apply the knowledge in your work.

For whom are our courses suitable?

Do you work with trees? Then the right knowledge is essential. Whether you plant, manage, or develop policies for trees, a solid understanding of assortment, soil, and growing conditions makes all the difference. At Van den Berk College, you learn directly from specialists, right in the nursery.

Our courses are suitable for a wide range of green professionals: from policymakers and landscape architects to gardeners, tree care specialists, and students. Depending on your knowledge and experience, you can choose the level that suits you:

  • Beginner level – For newcomers or as a refresher course. Learn at your own pace through our digital learning platform.
  • Professional level – For those with experience who want to apply theory directly in practice.
  • Expert level – For experienced green professionals who want to deepen their knowledge in specific fields at MBO+ and HBO level.

At Van den Berk College, practical learning comes first. You don’t just get theory—you see and experience how trees grow and what they need. This expands your expertise and allows you to apply it directly in your work.

Learning in a unique practical environment

At Van den Berk College, everything revolves around learning through practice. Our courses and workshops take place in an inspiring environment where trees are the main focus.

The beginner level is available digitally, allowing you to learn at your own pace with instructional videos and practice assignments. This provides a strong foundation before moving into practical training.

The professional and expert level courses are held at our nursery. Here, you see, feel, and experience the theory directly among the trees. The lessons take place in De Groene Verdieping, a modern training space equipped with all the facilities needed for collaborative learning and working. During the shared lunch, we further explore assortment knowledge—with tree branches literally on the table.
